Born in 1976 in Tokushima, Japan, lives and works in Berlin.
She holds a MFA from the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich under Markus Oehlen as well as a Bachelor from the Musashino Art University in Tokyo. She has exhibited in Berlin, Munich and Istanbul among others and has been given a grant by the Japanese agency of cultural affairs (Bunkacho) in order to pursue a residency at the ISCP in New York following shortly after this exhibition. Motoko Dobashi’s work can be found in the collections of Ernst & Young, the Pinakothek der Moderne and the Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus in Munich. In 2014 she made an installation at Bon Marché for the event L'entrée sur l'art contemporain, organised by Slick Art Fair, Paris.
